Mother Kali’s name comes first among the 10 goddesses. Kali mata is beyond time and space.goddess of death and destruction. The word kali is derived from kal.kali maa is also known es the raktdanta. according to Hinduism, Kali Mata is known for the victory of truth over evil. It is described in religious texts that Mother Kali was born to kill demons.
How did kalika mata kill rakta beej?
- According to the old story there was a demon whose name was Daruk. He did penance to Brahma ji and Brahma ji was pleased and asked, what boon do you ask for? Daruk said that no one can kill me.
- So Lord Brahma said that you will be killed by a woman. Daruk thought that a woman is soft and gentle. will she kill me. So he became happy with the boon.
- So the demon started troubling all the sages, saints, humans and gods and also captured Indralok.
- All the gods went to seek help from Lord Shiva. Lord Brahma told that this demon will be killed by a woman.
- Lord Shiva looked towards Parvati after listening to Brahma. Parvati put a part of herself in Lord Shiva’s throat. At this time Lord Shiva’s third eye opened. A woman of Rudra form was born whose name was Kali.
- That form was so terrifying that the entire universe shook and all the gods and saints fled. Maa kalika maa killed Daruk.
- Raktabeej also got a boon that no one could kill him. Rakta means blood,seed means living being.a creature born from blood. Because he had received a boon by doing penance from Lord Shiva. Had taken this boon that if my blood falls on the earth, a demon like me will be born.
- Raktabeej had created havoc in the entire universe and earth. The gods fought with this demon many times. But even the gods lost before its power.
- raktabeej challenged the gods to battle again. All the gods came but they were very scared. Because more blood seeds were produced from his blood.
Did rakta beej come to fight with mother?
- so maa kali came to the battlefield. maa challenged raktbeej. So the demon also came to the battlefield.
- raktbeej started the war. When drops of blood fell, many more raktbeej were produced. So maa kali extended her tongue. As soon as she kills raktbeej,she drinks all the blood.
- in doing so,maa kali drank all the blood. So this is how maa kali killed raktbeej.
- maa kali became so frightened fighting the war.his anger was not subsiding.all the gods were frightened by his appearance and went to Shiva.
- it was not an easy task for lord shiva to calm his maa anger. So Shivji went ahead to Maa Kali. Shiv ji is seen in the form of kali rudra red eyes, black colour, blood covered face.
- so lord Shiva lay down at the feet of his maa kali to calm her anger. So as soon as maa kali tongue touched lord Shiva.mother felt strange and looked down.
- shiv was under his feet.mother kali anger subsided as soon as she saw lord Shiva.
- kali mata has four forms-dakshina kali, mahakali, shamshan kali,bhadra kali.
