- This story comes from the sacred Ramayana and describes a crucial phase of the great war between Rama and Ravana. During this intense battle, many important events unfolded. First, Ravana’s powerful son Meghnath lost his life in combat; afterward, his mighty brother Kumbhakarna also fell on the battlefield. As a result, Ravana became deeply worried and anxious. Therefore, he began searching for another way to defeat Lord Rama.
- At that critical moment, Ravana remembered his younger brother Ahiravan, who ruled over Patal Lok. Moreover, Ahiravan possessed immense knowledge of black magic and powerful tantric practices. Because of this, Ravana decided to seek his help. Hence, he planned to use Ahiravan’s mystical powers to turn the war in his favor and defeat Lord Rama.

- He was a devotee of Kamakhya Mata. Ravana called his brother to Lanka. The future saw him coming and became worried. And he started thinking that these people are planning some conspiracy against Shri Ram Ji.
- It was night time, the war had stopped. Shri Ram and Lakshman were also tired and were resting in their room. all the monkeys had fallen asleep. Hanuman ji remained absorbed in the devotion of Ram ji throughout the night.

- Now Ahiravan disguised himself as vibhishan and went to ram ji room. In the darkness of the night, Shri Ram and Lakshman were taken to the underworld.
- When morning came, Hanuman ji went to Shri Ram ji’s room to see him. So she started crying loudly and within a short time there was a noise. On hearing the noise Sugriv, Angad, bali, Jammat, Hanuman ji everyone started searching for Shri Ram and Lakshman. They were not found.
- At that moment, Bhavishya urgently informed Hanuman that his brother Ahiravan had abducted Rama and Lakshman and taken them to Patal Lok.

- Meanwhile, Ahiravan devoted himself to the worship of Kamakhya and began preparing a powerful sacrificial ritual to offer Rama and Lakshman.

Why hanuman ji was angry-

- Five lamps were burning in the air where Ahiravan was standing. Ahiravan pointed to the burning lamps and said, As long as these five lamps are burning, no one can harm me. Because to kill me the lamps must be extinguished at once.
- These lamps were burning in the east-west-north-south direction and one was burning upwards.
- Ahiravana said to Hanuman ji that you have only one mouth, how can this lamp be extinguished?
- Hanuman ji closed his eyes and remembered Shri Ram ji. Hanuman ji was the 11th Rudra incarnation of Shiva. Without wasting a moment he created his Rudra avatar.

- The light was so bright that even Ahiravan got scared. when the light dims. Ahiravan saw, Lord Hanuman has five faces. These were the five main ones, one of Hanumanji, one of Varaha, narsimha, garud, haigrib,
- hanuman ji targeted those five lamps and blew from his five months.

- A bolt of lightning emanated from Ahiravana’s chest and he died.

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple.
- There is a temple of Sankat Mochan Hanuman ji in Assi Ghat of Varanasi in Kashi city. This temple is 400 years old.
- This mandir was established by Tulsidas ji in 1631 AD. It is said that Tulsidas ji composed the book Ram Charitra Manas while staying here and it was at this place that Hanuman Bahuk Granth was composed.

- Hanuman ji applied vermilion all over his body. When Shri Ram ji saw Hanuman ji in such a condition, Ram ji became very happy and hugged Hanuman ji to his chest.
