The Shivji Purana describes Lord Shiva as the God of Gods, or Mahadev. About lord Shiva ji is the creator of the universe. Whenever sins are heavy on the earth, Lord Shiva sometimes takes full incarnation, sometimes partial incarnation and sometimes Rudra incarnation.
Do you know who was lord shiva-
- According to ancient texts, the Shiva Purana tells a folk story that Lord Shiva manifested himself. In other words, he appeared on his own without anyone creating him.
- In Vishnu Purana, Lord Shiva was born from the light of Vishnu’s forehead. they had no parents.
- Once upon a time there was an argument between Brahma and Vishnu. Both consider themselves the best. Then suddenly Shivalinga appears between them so he hears the sound from Shivalinga.whoever finds the end of this will be the best.
- Brahma ji moved upwards and Vishnu ji moved downwards. Vishnu ji did lot on the undarword. He couldn’t find end and gave up.
- Brahma ji lied that they,ve got the edge. Then Lord Shiva appeared there and cut off the fifth head of Lord Brahma.
- There are ninty incarnations of Lord Shiva. The first incarnation of Lord Shiva was Veerbhadra.
- According to the story of Mahadev, King Daksh who was the mental son of Lord Brahma. He organized a yagya in which all the sages, sages and gods were invited. Shivji and Parvati were not invited.
Do you know why king daksh did not invite Shiv ji parvati to the yagya-
- When Parvati came to know that her father had performed the Yagya and did not invite us, she became very angry.
- When Parvati asked Lord Shiva to let her go to the Yagya, Lord Shiva refused. Shiv ji bowed to the insistence of Mother Parvati and gave permission to go.
- King Daksh insulted Parvati as soon as she reached there. King Daksh said that he did not call you, why have you come. There was a lot of argument between Parvati and Daksh. King Daksh insulted Mother Parvati a lot.
- Mother Parvati could not bear the insult to herself and her husband Shiva, Mother Parvati offered her body in this yugya.
- When Mahadev came to know about this. Mahadev out of anger gave birth to one Gana from his hair whose name was Veerbhadra. Virbhadra caused great destruction king Daksh’s Havan Kund was destroyed and cut off the head of King Daksh.
- Mahadev was not able to calm down due to Rudra form. Seeing this form of his, all the gods went to Mahadev.and requested Mahadev to calm down.
- Also requested to spare the life of King Daksh. Mahadev calmed down after hearing the call of the gods and gave life to King Daksh. His yagya was completed by attaching a goat’s head to his head.
- In this way Mahadev pacified Veerbhadra. One of the most powerful ganhan of Veerbhadra Mahadev.
- Even today the temple of Veerbhadra is famous in Lepakshi village in Andhra Pradesh, South India.
- Even today people come from all over the country and abroad to visit this temple.
- Its description is found in Skanda Purana, Shiva Purana and Devi Bhagwat.
