A small village in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand where one day a glacier broke and the Alaknanda river took the form of Rudra. Villages and roads were swept away. - Once Lord Vishnu was searching for a place for penance. So while doing Bharman, his eyes fell on the Badrinath temple amidst the Nar Narayan hills of the Himalayas.
- The place was very quiet and beautiful. But Lord Vishnu knew that this place belonged to Mahadev. He wanted to stay there and do penance.
- He played a trick with Mahadev and took the form of a small child and started crying.
- Shivji and Parvati were passing from there. Mata Parvati saw that a small child was crying. So the mata picked up her children.
- Shivji explained to Parvati that this is Vishnu ji. Mother’s love had awakened. She had taken the child inside the temple for breastfeeding.
- Meanwhile, Lord Vishnu closed the door of the temple from inside. So Lord Vishnu called out from inside that now the place is mine. Shivji laughed and said, Okay, from today onwards this place is yours. And this place will be called Badri Narayan which will be famous for the salvation of man.
- This story does not end here. Now Lord Vishnu became engrossed in penance. But the weather there was so cold, such icy cold winds were blowing, Lord Vishnu was facing trouble.
- Lakshmi Mata could not see this. he made a promise That I will take the form of a plum tree in the Himalayas. So Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a plum tree and saved Lord Vishnu from the snow.
- When Lord Vishnu’s penance was completed, so told them luxmi ji. You have also done as much penance as I have done. From today you will also be worshiped along with me in Badrinath.
