Meenakshi amma Temple is a historical temple which is famous all over the country. This temple of South India is one of the seven wonders. In which even today the marriage of Shiva and Parvati is celebrated with great pomp every year. This temple is located in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. The name of this temple is madhurai meenakshi. meaning fish eyed. Meenakshi was a divine girl who was born in the house of Raja Pandey Mallya Dhawaj. This girl’s mother’s name was Kanchanwala. Meenakshi mandir is considered a form of Parvati and lord shiva is also called Sundeshwar.

History of Meenakshi temple-

A temple which is more than 2500 years old. The main goddess of this temple is Meenakshi who is the form of Parvati. who had eyes like fish. This goddess became the queen of her kingdom. Two deities are worshiped in this temple, Goddess Meenakshi and sundeshwar. which is the form of Lord Shiva.
It has 33000 sculptures and 14 gopuram entrances. When these pillars were tapped, musical sounds came from them. It has 12 entrances. This meenakshi temple madhurai is also called Aman Mandir. There is a tunnel under this temple which leads to the underworld. its door has been closed for centuries.

It is said that if this door opens then the universe can be destroyed. Even scientists have not found their proof till date. This temple is 40 meters high and has 24 towers. This temple is spread over 14 acres.

meenkashi temple birth-

In ancient times there was a king named paandya Mallya Dhawaj. His wife’s name was Kanchanwala. they had no children. This is why both of them remained very sad. Both of them performed severe penance to have children.
When his penance was completed, the sages asked the king to perform a yagya to get a child. and the king got that yagya done.
A divine girl was born in the king’s house. Its special thing was that when the girl was born, she was tree years old. That girl was so beautiful that the happiness of the king and queen knew no bounds.
when this girl was looked at carefully, she had three breasts. Seeing this the king and queen became very surprised and upset.
The king’s troubles subsided when Lord Shiva appeared before him and said, This is no ordinary girl. When this girl gets a Yogyavar, her middle breast will be gone.
Since the king’s troubles were less, he raised his daughter with great love and taught him the art of weapons.
As time passed, Meenakshi completed her education. The king was very happy because his daughter was old enough to take over the kingdom. Now the king had declared Meenakshi the queen of the kingdom.
Meenakshi won many battles. He subdued the kings of many kingdoms. Having conquered the South, she now prepared to wage war on the North.
Now it won over many states in the North also and that is why it was named Meenakshi Amma.

Meenakshi temple and shiv mariage –

When Amma turned towards the Himalayas. fought with the gods, the even the gods lost. All the gods got worried and went to seek help from Mahadev.
Mahadev came to the battlefield. As soon as Mahadev appeared in front of Meenakshi. Mother attacked Mahadev and Amma’s third breast would end.
Amma fell at the feet of Mahadev and apologized. Because she had come to know that this is her husband. Lord Shiva asked him to go back to Madurai and wait.
lord shiva manifested his eighth from as sundeshwar and then went to madurai.

marriage solemnized-

Now Lord Shiva’s marriage is confirmed. Lord Vishnu himself was coming to conduct. Devraj Indra delayed them on the way. For this reason this marriage was solemnized by Kundal.
Lord Vishnu got angry after seeing this and he took a vow that he would never come to this city again. Lord Vishnu went to a mountain named Alghar.
When all the gods came to know about this, they went to convince Lord Vishnu. So Lord Vishnu came to Madurai and got water taken from him.
Since then this festival is celebrated in Tamil Nadu due to the marriage of Shiva and the arrival of Lord Vishnu.

Powers of Meenakshi Temple-

Do you know that Meenakshi temple is not an ordinary temple. Even science has not been able to understand the power of this temple till date.
The most remarkable thing is that there are 1000 Kamba in this temple, in each room of which a different sound is heard. It seems as if some music is playing.
Another thing worth paying attention to is the golden lonje taake on the roof of this temple. By looking at which one can know one’s previous birth.
The idol of Garbha Graha in the temple has so much energy that every problem of the devotees gets cured by seeing it.

built and demolished the temple-

This temple was constructed in the beginning of seventh century AD. It was destroyed by Muslim Mali Kapoor in 1310 AD. At that time the priest there saved these idols safely.
Many controversies came to light regarding the Panda throne in 1400 AD. This temple was built by Vishwanath Namak in 1760 AD.
Then in 17 AD, King KulShekhar Pandian built the Meenakshi temple.

surprising creation-

Architecture- the most surprising thing about this temple is its architecture.People and scientists are also surprised to see the carvings of this temple.
1000 pillars-There is a sound in this khabo as if some music is playing. Is it God’s grace or some mysterious power?

Swara Kamal Sarovar-We are talking about the lake inside this temple. This is such a lake that till date it is not known where this water is coming from. This lake never dries up. This is the grace of Mother Parvati and Lord Shiva.
