One of the 12 Jyotirlingas is in Kashi which is called Vishwanath..There is also a mosque along with this temple which is called Gyanvapi Masjid. Bholenath and Parvati themselves are seated here. Lives as a Guru during the day and as a king at night. Kashi Vishwanath is called the city of salvation. Where there is a Manikarnika Ghat where it keeps burning all day long. It is said that this temple sits on the trident of Bhole Baba.
Who was Kashi Vishwanath established?
- There are many stories prevalent according to our religious texts. Parvati ji was living in her father’s house after marrying Shiv ji.
- One day Parvati ji asked Bholenath to take her to her home. Because Parvati ji was not feeling good in her father’s house. Parvati ji told Bholenath to create a place which is different from others. So Bholenath brought him to Kashi ji. Vishwanath was established here in the form of Jyotirlinga.
- According to Shiv Purana, Bholenath ordered Lord Vishnu. Would you stay here and create the universe. Lord Vishnu started doing penance there, he did penance for a thousand years.
- Lord Vishnu started sweating while doing penance. Streams of water started flowing from his body. The currents increased so much that the pond was filled up to the top the earth and sky were filled with water.
- Bholenath was very happy. Then Lord Vishnu gives birth to Lord Brahma sitting on a lotus flower from his navel and creates the universe.
- When Lord Vishnu comes out of the pond, his earring falls down as soon as he shakes his head. That’s why even today she is famous by the name of Kund Manikarnika.

Who is the trident of Kashi Vishwanath temple made?
- This temple is built on three mounds, Nakeshwar, Vishweshwar, Kaddheshwar. By combining these three, the shape of a trident is formed.
- When the river Ganga passes near the temple, it passes giving a U shape. When people sit in meditation on the banks of the river, they get filled with energy due to the pure atmosphere and cool air.
- Then one feels the presence of Mahadev there. It is said that after taking initiation there for 3 months, everything about a person changes. he stops saying harsh words.
How many times was Kashi Vishwanath temple demolished?
- This temple was built by King Harishchandra in the eleventh century and it was demolished by Mohammad Ghori in 1994 and after that people built the temple to save their religious heritage. Because people had faith in this temple.
- Then in 1447, Sultan Mohammad Shah of Jaunpur got it destroyed. Once again Todarmal ji rebuilt this temple in 1585 AD.
- Aurangzeb again destroyed this temple on 8 April 1669. Baba Bholenath had no dearth of devotees, so the devotees together made the temple fit for worship.
- When Ahilyabai came under the rule of 1735 AD, she built this temple with great devotion.
How to remove the temple under the mosque?
- it has been centuries since the mosque was built over the temple.
- Court Commissioner’s survey conducted on 16th in 2022. A circular shape was found in the baju Khana there.
- The people of Hindu religion called that circular shape as shivalinga and muslims described a fountain.
- Then during this survey, the Indian court handed over this report to the scientists.
- Then after re-survey by ASI it was found that there was a temple under the Baju Khana. Because statues and some temple items were found somewhere there.
- Then the court sealed the wazukhan and even today people of Hindu religion are waiting for the final truth to come out.
Mystery of Maa Ganga in Kashi-
- Till today we have heard and seen that water falls towards the slope. But in kashi,maa ganga still flows in the opposite direction.
- Maa ganga goes from south to north. Even today scientists are surprised by this fact.
